7 Lessons from The Croods

Watched The Croods for the ninety seventh time last night. It's absolutely one of the best movie I've ever seen. Whether you have kids or are just a kid at heart, The Croods is filled with life lessons that apply to all.
The good thing is- even though it's full of lessons, The Croods is obviously not a boring at all. It's extremely, unpredictably funny and smart. The cast is great, the animation is awesome.

And here are 7 lessons I learn from the movie:

  1. Never not be afraid.
  2. Follow the light.
  3. Be curious.
  4. What if I fall? What if you fly?
  5. Live! Not just survive! (-:
  6. Stay open minded.
  7. Never leave important words unsaid..
ps: And I do love the movie soundtrack: "Shine Your Way" by Owl City & Yuna

The Greatest Relationship

The greatest relationships are the ones you never expected to be in. The ones that swept you off your feet and change your every view. The ones where you found yourself to be a better person because of who you were when he was around. The ones that made you wake up with a smile on your face no matter how corny it was. The ones that made everything right when it was wrong. The ones that caused you physical pain to leave because leaving meant losing a part of yourself.

The greatest relationships are the ones you'll always remember not because of their length, but because of who you were with. The ones where the memories make you want to laugh when you're crying. The ones that make you believe that God exists, because no one else could have created someone so amazing. The ones that cause you to change for the better, even if you don't realize it. The ones where you know you're being honest with yourself, so much it hurts.

The greatest relationships are the ones where he called you lame and you just rolled your eyes because you knew he was kidding. The ones where you were comfortable around him because you knew he'd love you no matter what. The ones where love seemed to be the only answer. The ones that made you compromise because it was something you knew you wanted to last. The ones where you accepted what he did because you just wanted to seem happy.

The greatest relationships are the ones that change your life. The ones that made you rethink your future because you knew it'd better with him. The ones where you felt like forever had finally appeared. The ones that made you question the ending. The ones that told you to push through the problems because eventually it would be better again. The ones where you broke your heart for his good, even when you couldn't explain without breaking a rule.

The greatest relationship are the ones where you care more his happiness than you do about your own. The ones where you do what you do for his future, even if it means wrecking your present. The ones where you tell yourself to walk in the opposite direction, because you know there are just some things you can't do. The ones when you cry not because it's over but because you lost not only him, but your best friend too.

The greatest relationships are the ones where you'll thank him for being a part of your life, no matter how short. The ones where you'll never forget him because he helped shape your view on love. The ones where you'll always be there for him, whether or not he'll accept that. The ones where he put up with your crap when he didn't have to. The ones where your last tribute to him was doing something he never thought you'd do- and loving it.

The greatest relationship are the ones where you'll always love him, even when he's forgotten all about you. The ones where you're changed forever because of him. The ones that you will always smile about because where they were flawed, they were still amazing. The ones where you fought what you knew was going to happen because you couldn't quite come to terms of losing him. The ones that remind you love lost is better than never having loved at all.

Who Crucified Jesus?

When looking at Rembrandt's painting of The Three Crosses, our attention is drawn first to the cross on which Jesus died. Then as we look at the crowd gathered around the foot of that cross, we would be impressed by the various facial expressions and actions of the people involved in the awful crime of crucifying the Son of God. Finally our eyes drift to the edge of the painting to catch sight of another figure, almost hidden in the shadow. Some art critics say this is the representation of Rembrandt himself, for he recognized that by his sins he helped nail Jesus to the cross.

Someone said, "It is a simple thing to say that Christ died for the sin of the world. It is quite  another thing to say that Christ died for my sins. It is a shocking thought that we can be as indifferent as Pilate, as scheming as Caiaphas, as callous as the soldiers, as ruthless as the mob, or as cowardly as the disciples. It wasn't just what they did- it was I who nailed Him to the cross, I crucified the Christ of God, I joined the mockery."

Put ourselves in the shadows with Rembrandt. We too are standing there. But then we recall what Jesus said as He hung on the cross. "Father, forgive them." Thank God, that includes you and me.

Have a blessed Good Friday.

A Lesson on Stress

A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining about stress management to an audience with a raised glass of water. Everyone 'knew' she was going to ask the ultimate question: Half empty or half full?
She fooled them all. "How heavy is this glass of water?" she inquired with a smile. Answers called out ranged  from 8 oz to 20 oz.

She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that would not be a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I would have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you would have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burden all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.

So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burden down, don't carry them through the evening and into the night. Pick them up tomorrow."

Another Year of Friendship

Didn't I tell you that meeting you is a gift of fate?

For another year of friendship
full of memories
stupid fights
'porotta' arguments
inside jokes
crazy ideas
1% more stubborn

For another blue cupcake with a single candle on the top
thirteen white roses- and the red ones, too

For all that wouldn't happen in my life
if it weren't for you

I know it doesn't rhyme- I'm not good in these stuffs
but I just want you to know that
I feel truly blessed

Thanks for being a friend to me
in so many truly 'porotta' ways

With you, even the bad times are good. (:

Random List: 15 Ways to Make Her Happy

"A real man never stops trying to show a girl how much she means to him even after he's got her."

1. Send her a cute good night text while she's sleeping so she wakes up with a smile on her face.
2. Make sure she knows that you're afraid to lose her.
3. Treat her the same around your friends as you would do when you're alone.
4. Be there when she needs you.
5. Introduce her to the people that matter to you. Make sure she knows who they are and vice versa.
6. Randomly send her a text saying you're thinking about her.
7. Make her a priority, not an option.
8. Movie night cuddling, instead of going out with the guys.
9. When you're with her, stay off your phone.
10. Back down in an argument sometimes.
11. Respect her.
12. Slow-dance with her even if there's no music.
13. Support her ambition and love her flaws.
14. Make her feel like she's the only woman in the world.
15. Fight for her when she's ready to give up and hold her tight when she's at her weakest.

Where It Counts

I'll never be on the cover of some glamour magazines.
I'll never wear a crown or be a beauty queen.
There are days I look like hell,
there are days I show my age.
But in my heart where it counts, I'm beautiful all the same.

I might not save the world,
I'll never cure some deadly disease.
Won't fly above the trees.
But I'll do my best to change the world a little each day,
I'll do my best to make a difference.
Touch the heart of someone as much as I can,
make a mark on the world where it counts.

I know many who will try to put me down.
Many who would love to see me fail.
But I know who I am and that's where it counts.
